Discilined Lane Crossing ! ~ Proprioception !!

Posted on the 21 March 2024 by Sampathkumar Sampath

Ever heard of ‘Proprioception!’- right from our childhood we have been fed into an aura of superiority that humans possess the sixth sense, and only specie that could think and decide !-and with this extra sense, how disciplined are you ?

எங்கே செல்லும் இந்த பாதை யாரோ யாரோ அறிவார் ?

காலம் காலம் சொல்ல வேண்டும் யாரோ உண்மை அறிவார் ?

How disciplined are you ! especially in crossing roads, waiting signals, and driving on roads.Everyone rushes in the morning to work and elsewhere, vying to outsmart others and reach their destination in time, albeit many a times, we do start later than what we should have !!

How good a driver you are? Generally speaking, good road positioning means you should aim to keep your car in the centre of your lane. We say ‘generally’, because when you’re out and about, you need a dynamic relationship with the roads. As different hazards present themselves, you need to adapt your driving accordingly, and when you’re about to turn or overtake an obstacle, your road position will need to change. Strangely enough, driving instructors tell this often: - if you are taught to drive a two-wheeler, just go straight, the oncoming car driver would adjust the position; and when you are on wheels of a car, just go straight, the smaller vehicle would turn, and keep away !!

In schools, we were taught that humans have five senses: taste, smell, vision, hearing, and touch and the sixth sense of rational thinking. However, an under-appreciated "sixth sense," is - Proprioception, that allows us to keep track of where our body parts are in space. Proprioception is the body’s mysterious ability to locate our limbs, even in darkness.

Proprioception, otherwise known as kinesthesia, is body's ability to sense movement, action, and location. It's present in every muscle movement humans have. Without proprioception, one wouldn't be able to move without thinking about one’s r next step.Proprioception, Proprioception comes from a Latin word meaning unconscious perception of movement. It allows the body to control its position for optimal locomotion.

These cows for sure are not Harvard educated, nor possess any Sixth sense, but are mindful ofthe difficulties and make a disciplined way of crossing the road.
