The legendary Dinosaur Jr. have shared new single ‘I Ran Away’ ahead of the release of their 12th album proper – and fifth since getting back together – ‘Sweep It Into Space’ via Jagjaguwar on 23 April.
The new single finds the trio dipping into the jangly kind of indie rock that serves Teenage Fanclub and the album’s co-producer Kurt Vile’s (who also makes a guest appareance on 12-string here) old band The War on Drugs so well. J. Mascis opens the song in pondering mood – ‘I never know whose side to take’ – before then doubling down on this decision in a self-depreciating singalong chorus: ‘I ran away, I gave it up today. Who could I blame?’
