even if we did is the end result worth it?
i say no.
the malaise that accompanies it's use is corroding our clandestine services. these services should be a benefit to our wonderful american democracy.  as my father, who was a spy, always said, there is an honorable role for intelligence.
torture undermines it.
false information obtained under torture was one of the reasons we went to war in iraq. a war that caused hundreds of thousands of horrible deaths; it's end result is the empowerment of our nascent nuclear enemy iran.  iran is our enemy because of other violent cia blunders made in the mid 20th century.  how long lasting the damage caused by these episodes of deadly mischief can be.
