Once you’ve conducted your audit you should have a clear picture of every social account representing your business, who runs or controls them, and what purpose they serve. This inventory should be maintained regularly, especially as you scale your business.

Kik – Just like internetlovingteen said, it’s rated 17+ for a reason. It’s absolutely not for kids. WhatsApp – Heard of it, but never used it. Group Me – Never heard of it. Instagram – Relatively safe, however, it does have some explicit content. Tumblr – There’s some pornographic content on it, but you can search for certain things you like, so it’s relatively safe if you don’t wander into the explicit sections of it. Twitter – Relatively safe as long as you set it to private. Has some swearing. Musical.ly – Relatively safe, however, some songs have swearing and/or explicit content. YouNow – Never heard of it. Periscope – Heard of it, but never used it. Live.ly – Never heard of it. Burn Note – Never heard of it. Snapchat – A bit difficult to use and can potentially have explicit content. Would not recommend for kids. Whisper – Can potentially have NSFW content and things like suicide, self-harm, and drugs. Not for kids. Also rated 17+ for a reason. Yik Yak – Heard of it, but never used it. MeetMe – Not for kids. Omegle – Not for kids. Tinder – Can have explicit and sexual content. It’s generally used for hook-ups instead of long-term dating relationships. Do not let kids on this app.

Because every business is unique and has a different target demographic, history and competitive marketplace, no single marketing strategy works for every business. The fact that social networking is constantly evolving also makes keeping up with changes challenging and influences a company’s marketing success rate.

If you’re unsure of how to allocate your resources, you could follow the 80-20 rule—80 percent of your posts should inform, educate, or entertain your audience and the other 20 percent can directly promote your brand—or try the social media rule of thirds:

We always talk about where kids go after…what about where kids can go before, and still retain their privacy? There is a app called GeckoLife which allows one to create spaces to communicate privately. Has all the features others have like messaging, pics, video…but it’s done with a little more purpose. My kids use it with their friends…and family.

Websites such as Delicious, Digg, Slashdot, Diigo, Stumbleupon, and Reddit are popular social bookmarking sites used in social media promotion. Each of these sites is dedicated to the collection, curation, and organization of links to other websites that users deem to be of good quality. This process is “crowdsourced”, allowing amateur social media network members to sort and prioritize links by relevance and general category. Due to the large user bases of these websites, any link from one of them to another, the smaller website may in a flash crowd, a sudden surge of interest in the target website. In addition to user-generated promotion, these sites also offer advertisements within individual user communities and categories.[70] Because ads can be placed in designated communities with a very specific target audience and demographic, they have far greater potential for traffic generation than ads selected simply through cookie and browser history.[71] Additionally, some of these websites have also implemented measures to make ads more relevant to users by allowing users to vote on which ones will be shown on pages they frequent.[72] The ability to redirect large volumes of web traffic and target specific, relevant audiences makes social bookmarking sites a valuable asset for social media marketers.

Shifting the focus to the time span, we may need to measure some “Interim Metrics”, which give us some insight during the journey itself, as well as we need to measure some “Final Metrics” at the end of the journey to inform use if the overall initiative was successful or not. As an example, most of social media metrics and indicators such as likes, shares and engagement comments may be classified as interim metrics while the final increase/decrease in sales volume is clearly from the final category.

16. Vine. This site (also available as an app) offers users the chance to share and view brief video clips. While that theoretically offers a virtually endless range of uses, most of Vine’s content is entertainment-focused, with a heavy preference towards “viral” and “meme” clips that are easy to share.

A woman overseeing the account — the “community manager,” as the job is known in this business — said she had been sending direct replies to anyone on Twitter who mentioned the cookie, saying hello, and perhaps sending some product samples, as a representative of the brand.

Social media has allowed for mass cultural exchange and intercultural communication. For example, people from different regions or even different countries can discuss current issues on Facebook. As different cultures have different value systems, cultural themes, grammar, and worldviews, they also communicate differently.[259] The emergence of social media platforms collided different cultures and their communication methods together, forcing them to realign in order to communicate with ease with other cultures.[259] As different cultures continue to connect through social media platforms, thinking patterns, expression styles and cultural content that influence cultural values are chipped away.[259] Social media has offered a new platform for peer pressure with both positive and negative communication. From Facebook comments to likes on Instagram, how the youth communicate and what is socially acceptable is now heavily based on social media.[260]
