by appointment, is held on select dates during EAST LA REP’s Office Hours, and features a special guest(s) discussing topics of particular interest. It is moderated by Juan E. Carrillo, Creative Director.

It is open and free to the public and streamed live via Cindy Marie Jenkins beginning at 8pm pst.

Diane Rodriguez, performer, writer, director, producer
With her topic of interest, “Sustaining a Career” staying in it for the long haul….

Diane is an Obie Award winning theater artist who directs, writes and performs. She is Associate Producer and Director of New Play Production at the multiple Tony Award winning Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles and is an Associate Member of Cornerstone Theater. For ten years she was a Resident Artist and Director of the Mark Taper Forum’s Latino Theatre Initiative, a comprehensive Latino play and audience development program.

Diane most recently directed premieres of Erik Patterson’s Sick for Playwrights Arena and Cave Quest by Les Thomas at East West Players, both in Los Angeles. She directed Lynn Nottage’s Intimate Apparel at City Theatre in Pittsburgh, PA and John Belluso’s Pryetown for City Theatre and Playwrights Arena in Los Angeles; Nilo Cruz’s Hortensia and the Museum of Dreams at Victory Gardens in Chicago, and Dan Guerrero’s Gaytino (World Premiere) at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Developmentally, she has directed works by Kirsten Greenidge, Octavio Solis, Cherrie Moraga, Polly Penn, and Nilo Cruz.

PERFORMING
For nearly ten seasons, she was a leading actress for the seminal company, El Teatro Campesino. At the Mark Taper Forum she originated the roles of Zoila in Lisa Loomer’s Living Out and Minerva in Luis Alfaro’s Breakfast Lunch and Dinner. She has appeared in over twenty-five film and television projects. She was a founder of the comedy group, Latins Anonymous.

WRITING
She is an anthologized writer, and has written special features for the Los Angeles Times Calendar Section. She wrote the book and was Supervising Director for Barbie Live: The Princess Adventures a Mattel Toy, Inc. production that premiered in Buenos Aires and Latin American in 2008. Her latest play is titled, Living Large in a Mini Kind of Way. She lives with her husband in Echo Park.
