Devotion on Psalm 103:5

"He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle's." - Psalm 103:5

It's so easy to fall into the trap of claiming credit for the good things we have. We believe in statements like, "I enjoy the comfort of having a home because I worked hard for it," "I've reached the pinnacle of my career because I was good enough and surely I deserved it," and "I am who I am today all because of me."

True enough you worked hard, but who gave you the strength and sustenance to go on? Who qualified you and endowed you with the skill which determined your career growth? Who really has blessed you with every good thing? Is it not God, the One who created you?

James 1:17 tells us that every good thing comes from the Lord. David acknowledged this truth. He didn't take credit for the awesome things taking place in his life, instead he gave the glory back to God whom he believed to be the source of everything he had.

Acknowledge God in every successful step. After all, He's the one who makes you soar on eagle's wings.
