DeVonta Smith: Referees should have blown the whistle before my concussion occurred

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith expressed frustration that officials did not do more to protect him from the hit that caused his concussion in Week Three. Despite being hit by Saints' defensive lineman Khristian Boyd, Smith did not view the hit as dirty but believed the play should have been blown dead when his forward progress was stopped. Smith has since been cleared to return to play and mentioned teammate A.J. Brown's support following the hit. He recalled remembering the immediate aftermath of the hit but not what happened afterwards. Smith officially cleared the NFL's concussion protocol 19 days after the incident.
