Then I went to the supermarket for a snack. I wanted Devil Dogs. Nothing like a craving for Devil Dogs. But I saw that Swiss Cake Rolls were significantly less expensive - at least $1.50 less than the Devil Dogs.

I had to make a decision. Do I satisfy my specific craving, at $1.50 more? Or meet my hunger with something that's very close to what I craved, but not exactly, just to save $1.50? What is the value of $1.50? Is it even worth my thinking about it? Maybe my time isn't worth thinking about it - I should just get the Devil Dogs and the heck with the $1.50. But on the other hand, this is just what the corporations want me to do, just accept my fate and pay extra when something less expensive will do just fine.

Maybe the whole concept of a Devil Dog vs. Swiss Cake Roll is a fiction.
