Detroit Honors The ‘Queen Of Soul’ Aretha Franklin With A Street In Her Name

On Thursday, the city of Detroit honored the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin with a street named after her.  As they unveiled Aretha Franklin Way, the singer was overcome with emotion.

The renaming ceremony was a kickoff to  the ‘Aretha Weekend’ as part of the inaugural Detroit Music Weekend festival. Tonight at the festival, gospel singer Tasha Page Lockhart is scheduled to take the stage to pay tribute to the living legend.

Congrats Aretha Franklin!

Her father, pastor C.L. Franklin would be proud.
