Detroit City Distillery Summer Rum Review

By Boozedancing @boozedancing

We've sampled many a seasonal beer over the years, but a seasonal Rum? That's a new one for us...

On today's episode of A Tasting at The Murder Table, we'll be sampling something called Summer Rum which comes to us from the Motor City's Detroit City Distillery. It's a seasonal Rum that is only available from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and can only be purchased at the distillery and local liquor stores in and around Detroit, MI.

Here are a few words about this Rum taken directly from the Detroit City Distillery website:

IT'S SUMMER TIME! Our limited-edition rum that we made in collaboration with some of our favorite Detroit bartenders is back to fuel the most epic of summers. We sourced rum from Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Guyana and the US Virgin Islands and got the band together to blend a rum with the perfect island vibe. The Jamaican funk hits on the nose with ripe banana, pineapple and clove. The light rose gold body has a creamy mouthfeel full of Caribbean fruit notes like papaya, guava, mangos and coconut. The silky smooth finish offers hints lime, toffee and French Indie spice. As the name suggests, SUMMER RUM IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR THE SUMMER. In other words, get it while it's hot!

We've acquired a huge appreciation for Rum over the past few months, so when a distillery tells us that they've sourced Rums from various islands in the Caribbean, we tend to salivate a little with anticipation.
