Despite Trump's Claims, Most Don't See Better Economy
Donald Trump loves to brag about what a good effect he has had on the economy -- especially noting the rising stock market and GDP. And that may be true for the rich and the corporations (who recovered quickly from the Bush recession and are making record incomes and profits). But it is not true for most Americans.
Has Trump improved the economy? About 29% say he has. But an overwhelming 67% (2 out of 3 people) say he hasn't -- with 18% say the economy is worse for them, and 49% saying it is the same as before Trump took office.
Personally, I think we're lucky that things are about the same (because the only real economic activity by Trump and Congress is a continuation of the last Obama budget). If Trump and the GOP Congress ever get around to instituting the economic agenda they want, things will get a lot worse for most Americans.
The chart above reflects the results of a new survey by the Pew Research Center -- done between October 25th and 30th of a random national sample of 1,504 adults, with a 2.9 point margin of error.
