Design your own moss wreath for Christmas

Christmas is the perfect time for making your home welcoming and warm. Apart from your Christmas tree, there are plenty of other ways of decorating your home. Christmas wreaths are very popular around this time of year. You can buy wreaths from your florist or you can make your own if you have the time and you're feeling creative. Here's how to make your own moss wreath.

Supplies needed:

  • Evergreen damp moss
  • 12 inch wire wreath frame
  • A reel of wire
  • A wreath wrap
  • Stub wires
  • German pins
  • Beads, feathers, baubles, and other suitable décor
  • A door hook

Instructions:

  • Clean the moss by removing any stones, twigs, and so on. The moss needs to be sufficiently damp before you tease to open it up and clean it.
  • Start with your wire frame and attach some reel wire to it.
  • Roll a handful of moss into the shape of a sausage and place it on the wire frame. Do this until the wreath is covered.
  • Secure the moss to the frame using the reel of wire. Repeat this so that the moss is secure.
  • Trim away any loose pieces of moss for that perfect finish.
  • Make sure that the end of the reel wire is anchored into the moss.
  • Your pieces of fern need to have their stems double wired.
  • Anchor the pieces of fern into the wreath on the top and side of the wreath. The foliage must be firmly secured to the moss and wire frame.
  • Cover the wreath with the wreath wrap and secure it in place using the German pins.
  • Wire your decorations so that they can be secured to the wreath.
  • Add the decorations to the wreath as you please.
  • Add the hook and hang your wreath!
