Design Hotels Welcomes Seven New Members To The Collection Of Properties
Among these is the Oddfellows On The Park in Cheshire, UK that is surrounded by 100 acres of mature oak trees, woodlands, ponds and lawns. Imagine relaxing in a 19th-century Victorian mansion, and take a trip out to tour Manchester, which is around 15 kilometers away. And, there are plenty of activities to experience like archery, golf, and a BMX cycling track. There's a restaurant onsite in the Hall’s old ballroom, plus a wood-paneled cocktail bar clad in tweed and tartan, along with a lovely spa called The Pigsty, with a “mudroom” to pamper guests. The rooms and suites—with views of the surrounding parkland—each boast a unique design, many with original Victorian fireplaces, ceilings, and architraves that contrast boldly with the playful design pieces throughout the property.
There is the Sir Nikolai Hotel in Hamburg, Germany that is located on the Nikolaifleet canal. This is a unique hotel that has been artfully converted from a former goods store to the 94-room Sir Nikolai. Extending into the glass-covered courtyard, The Patio is the beating heart of the hotel with its fluid inside/out setup playing host to both cozy fireside soirées and the eternal cocktail hours of summer. The subterranean spa takes on an elegant yet casual vibe, taking care of body and mind, while more immediate nourishment comes courtesy of Izakaya Asian Kitchen & Bar, an innovative Japanese-Peruvian dining experience.
In Saint-Raphaël, France you'll find the Hôtel Les Roches Rouges that offers an authentic French Riviera experience straight out of the late 1950s. Renowned Parisian architecture firm Festen has reworked the original mid-century structure to emphasize the clean nautical-modernist lines of the 50-room hotel’s classic Riviera architecture. Inside, an aesthetic defined by azure blue, crisp white, and red ochre is complemented by polished concrete, aged oak, and terra cotta ceramics by Céramiques du Beaujolais. Taking advantage of its spectacular waterfront setting, the hotel features a natural seawater swimming pool and a swimming lane cut directly into the coastal rock.
For a taste of Italian charm plan a holiday at the Hotel Viu Milan in Italy, which is located in the hip Porta Volta neighborhood. The 124-room hotel is surrounded by an exquisite cross-section of Milanese culture: from centuries-old historical monuments to grand shopping boulevards and cool drinking dens. And yet it has become the area’s hottest landmark thanks to its stunning glass façade, lush vertical gardens, and flawless Italian design. Throw in exquisite furnishings by Molteni&C, a gourmet restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred chef Giancarlo Morelli, and a spectacular rooftop terrace and pool with panoramic views over the city, and you have the chicest new addition to Italy’s capital of cool.
Another addition to Design Hotels collection is the Sir Joan Hotel in Ibiza Town, Spain, which recently opened. This hotel offer a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the renowned and exciting nightlife. And, the Talamanca beach and the city center only a stroll away. Sir Joan Hotel’s 38 rooms and suites feature stripped wooden yacht flooring and highly polished stainless steel wall panels, which emulate the movement of waves when the sunlight streams through the windows. On the top floor, two penthouse suites boast private wraparound balconies with outdoor seating areas and unrivalled views over the marina and old town. For nighthawks and early birds alike the hotel’s gourmet burger joint The Butcher is open all day.
Then there is the Myconian Kyma in Mykonos, Greece that takes its name from the Greek word for "wave", the 52-room and 29-suite property carries this emblem throughout. From the curved lines of the multi-level infinity pool to the design and furniture seen throughout the whitewashed structures, a gentle flow abounds. Unobstructed views pervade the eyeline, while top-notch pampering ensures relaxation and respite for the whole family. And there’s even a chapel for those taking the other kind of plunge.
