As you have no doubt realized by now, I have spoken a great deal about lighting lately and you are probably wondering why? Truth be told, I am working on a project that involves a great deal of focus on getting the light just perfect. The reason being, there is a great deal of precious artwork and fine collectibles that need to be displayed in this particular design project.
Without compromising the design, I am trying to capture the artwork in the best light, incorporate it into the decor while still making the area feel warm and comfortable. It is not an easy task because after all the research I have done, I have finally come to realize that I will have to use industrial style lighting for safety and durability reasons. The ceilings are all 15 feet high and I do not want to have to replace the lighting often. It simply has to work.
Chandeliers and pendant lights would have been perfect in this particular setting, but they just won't be effective enough. Don't get me wrong, industrial style lighting appropriately matches the design and decor, I just prefer traditional lighting because it is a bit more delicate. However, when it comes to durability you just cannot beat industrial grade lights. They use black iron as its main material instead of wood or metal.
The modern look and feel of the black iron will at least add a sense of sophistication making them seem a little bit more like home accessories than commercial lighting fixtures. The only problem that I seem to be having, deciding which ones to buy.
