“One day, you will preach to millions,” a woman told Denzel Washington in his mother’s beauty shop in March of 1975.
Denzel recalled that story Thursday before receiving the American Film Institute’s 47th Life Achievement Award at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. It’s clear that woman was relaying a prophetic word from the Lord!

“Start your day with prayer. Ask for wisdom. Ask for understanding. Don’t aspire to make a living, aspire to make a difference,” Denzel shared during an interview with Christian Today.
The legendary Cicely Tyson was one of many celebs on hand to honor Denzel, who is regarded as one of the best actors of all time.

The “47th AFI Life Achievement Award” will air on TNT on June 20th at 10 p.m.
