You may have seen O’Hare guest star as various characters on several Law and Order shows.   This time he’s returning to a role he hasn’t played since 2008 in season 7 episode 21 (“Last Rites”) of L&O: Criminal Intent, Father Shea.

It’s quite the unexpected role reversal for a king to become a priest who gets beaten in this new episode.  The character is described as:

“A priest who is pulled from his car and brutally beaten. When the police arrive, they arrest Fin’s ex-wife’s brother, Sam Randall Despite Sam’s former criminal record and various stints behind bars, Fin doesn’t think Sam is their man and asks his SVU partners for help getting to the bottom of the case. “

Look for Denis to star as Father Shea sometime in January.  But this isn’t his first time playing a priest. The actor also played Father Hogan on the original Law and Order in 2003.  In addition to his most recent stint on True Blood, he’s reoccurred on CBS’ the Good Wife as Judge Abernathy and turned in an Emmy-nominated performance as Larry Harvey in the first season of FX’s American Horror Story.
