Democrats Hold A 7 Point Edge In U.S. Party Affiliation
The chart above is from a new Gallup Poll -- done between November 1st and 30th of a random national sample of 14,714 adults, with only a 1 point margin of error.
It shows the Democratic Party has a 7 point edge (44% to 37%) over the Republican Party among Americans. That's five points larger than it was last November (44% to 42%). The increase comes from people leaving the Republican Party, rather than new adherents for the Democratic Party. While the Democrats have remained steady at 44%, the Republicans have dropped from 42% to 37%.
This is encouraging for Democratic chances in the 2018 election (when they hope to flip Congress). But that election will, as all elections do, depend on turnout. If the Democrats get their voters to the polls they will win. If too many Democrats stay home in November of 2018, they will lose.
Disapproval of Trump and the Republican Congress is not enough. We must work to get our voters to the polls to win!
