Classic Savory has been around for a very long time, 1950 to be exact. Though I didn't exactly see the brand grow, my abuelito and abuelita (grandparents) sure did. They said that they frequently visit their first branch which is located in Escolta and the classic chicken is a must-order. In a nutshell, Classic Savory is a really great place.
I think we can all agree because Classic Savory became the destination for Filipino families during simple gatherings and special occasions. In fact, people come and go at their The Annex - SM North branch. Some of them enjoy a simple meal with friends and family while some who are in big groups celebrate. It's really great. Oh! Let's backtrack a little bit.
I was actually sick a few weeks prior to visiting that branch. Since I was feeling better, I wanted to enjoy a lovely lunch with my abuelita and tio. So I searched for a restaurant on my Zomato app and stumbled upon Classic Savory. After checking their delightful menu and asking my abuelita, Classic Savory was indeed the perfect choice.
When we arrived at the restaurant, the waitstaff greeted and guided us to an empty couch. We were given the menu and immediately ordered because it was easy. Their menu is detailed but simple. After ordering, we only waited a few minutes for the soup to be served.
Nido Soup with Quail Eggs
Thick soup with mock bird's nest and boiled quail eggs.
Then our dishes arrived.
Salt and Pepper Squid
Deep-fried crunchy squid, served with spiced vinegar dip.
Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet
Breaded white fish with yummy sweet and sour sauce.
I don't like soups for an unknown reason but I did enjoy Classic Savory's Nido Soup with Quail Eggs. It was delightfully warm. Speaking of which, I didn't know how a simple Salt and Pepper Squid can be so delicious. It was soft and flavourful and so was their Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet. Boy, we really got our money's worth!
Oh, you might be wondering why we didn't order the "must-order dish". Allow me to explain. Before going back home, we passed by the restaurant to buy their Half Classic Chicken. 🙂
Now, we don't live that far but it was a 45-minute drive because of traffic. Let me tell you that our car smelled delicious that entire time. When we arrived home and finally enjoyed it for dinner, I can honestly say that the Half Classic Chicken is really good and worth every Peso. Because of that, we're very much interested to try their Buttered Chicken and Salted Egg Fried Chicken.
Oh, by the way, I vlogged my trip here. Would you like to watch? (Classic Savory 01:25) While you're there, could you please SUBSCRIBE and leave a thumbs up? Thanks heaps! 🙂
You can find Classic Savory at the 2nd floor of SM City North Annex, EDSA Corner North Ave., Quezon City.
