Hundreds of women, on Saturday night gathered outside the Jaffrabad metro station in Delhi and staged a ‘DHARNA’ against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), blocking the road.
The protesters, inspired by Shaheen Bagh, were seen carrying tricolor and raised ‘Aazadi’ and ‘Jai Bhim’ slogans . The protesters demanded that the government should immediately revoked the CAA.
The protesters have blocked road No. 66 which connects Seelampur to Maujpur and Yamuna Vihar. The Jaffrabad metro station has also been closed due to the protests.
“Security Update: Entry and exit of Jaffrabad have been closed. Trains will not be halting at this station,” the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a tweet this morning.
Looking at the tense situation, the administration has deployed heavy security in the Jaffarabad region.
This is not the first time when protests have broke out at Jaffrabad. Earlier in December, thousands of protesters holding placards and national flags gathered at Jaffrabad metro station raised slogans against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
