Verdict: Clever Sci-Fi Film
Story: Defective starts as we enter a world with militant police roaming the streets to prevent crimes and keep the people in order, Rhett Murphy (Paradine) witnesses a murder by these police, meaning he is now past him limits, giving him time to put his things in order, but when his sister Jean Harlan (Cousens) gets involved the two must go on the run from the militant police.
Ora Green (Armstrong) is controlling the operation to keep the corporation happy and trusted before they can reveal the truth about what the police are doing and bring down the system.
Thoughts on Defective
Characters – Rhett Murphy has been marked down for elimination after breaching too many offences, now on the run to with his sister, he finds himself in the middle of resistance group trying to stop the control of the state by the militant forces. Jean is the sister of Rhett, working an office job until she becomes the center of attention from a new member of staff. Ora Green is one of the corporation highest ranked members
Performances – The cast give good performances throughout, none of them feel out of place and Colin Paradine in the leading role is good as the alternate action leading man, Raven Cousens must go through the biggest changes through the film and handles them all well. The shout out to Dennis Anders who gives us a very Chris Pratt like performance.
Story – The story takes us into a world where militant police have taken over, in the keeping of the peace, but as they start to become too controlling we follow two estranged siblings as they start to fight back in a battle to bring the system down. There are a lot of positives in this story, first the idea of the militant police controlling too much freedom, is always a fear that could happen one day, the wrongfully accused will be ones punished through this too. The journey we follow the siblings go through with plenty of twists along the way.
Action/Sci-Fi – The action does have plenty of routine shoot em ups which as always, the heroic characters are better shots than the villainous ones. The sci-fi side of the film brings us to a future where militant police controlling a state.
Settings – The film implies we are in a big city, but I felt we never learnt which one it ones, not a bad thing because it shows it could be anywhere.
Special Effects – This is a movie you think would be heavy on effects, but everything is used well without needing too many effects.

That Moment That Annoyed Me – While I could have seen it being any city, it could have gained more form being in known city.
Final Thoughts – This is a smart sci-fi movie that plays into the growing fear of a police militant that could one day take over with a bigger conspiracy going on.
Overall: Ambitious sci-fi movie.
