Against all odds (or perhaps because of them) in the midst of this rising sea of inobservance came the renaissance of Sherlock Holmes.
From Robert Downey Jr’s action-flick take on the beloved character, to CBS’s Elementary, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s king of deduction is everywhere.
Of course, the true Holmes fans know that the reason for this post is tonight’s long-awaited return of BBC’s Sherlock to American television.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this smart, modern interpretation by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, it’s a great option if you’re looking for a new series to binge-view on Netflix. Although, be warned, odds are you’ll miss something the first time through.
This beautifully filmed, and brilliantly written series has captivated audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.
And we can’t talk about Sherlock without applauding the performances of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Yes, before they were Smaug and Bilbo, they were the dynamic duo of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. Their chemistry is the heart and soul of this adaptation.

To our fellow Baker Street groupies, you have mere hours to place your final guesses (however bizarre they may be) on just how Sherlock survived his own death.
