Hello everyone,
I hope you’ve been having a good week so far? Are you looking forward to the Columbus Day weekend? Do you have any big plans? My husband, Christopher, is participating in a 100 mile bike ride called the Seagull Century in the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I will be cheering him from the sidelines. I’m quite proud of him, because he’s been training for it quite diligently. I’m looking forward to taking him out for a celebratory dinner afterwards.
For today’s post, I’ll try to help you choose the right window treatments for your home. Decorating your windows with beautiful shades and blinds really enhances the beauty of your home. There are a few things you should keep in mind when choosing your treatments, in particular the shape, style, and purpose of your window. You should be aware of your specific goals for the window treatments; for example, are they for privacy or are they for filtering in natural light? There are a huge number of styles of window blinds and shades on the market today, so choosing the one that’s best for your home can be stressful and time consuming.
You can have shades that are purely for decorative purposes.
If privacy is important to you, blinds may be your best bet. They are available in many textures such as wood, bamboo, and aluminum.
You can dress your blinds by layering them with a nice curtain panel.
Roman shades are fabric shades that are available in a variety of textures such as silk and bamboo. They generally lay fairly flat across the window when they are closed. When pulled up, they fold and stack neatly up into themselves. These shades can also be made from very sheer fabric that will filter any outside light or from bamboo that will fully block the light.
Vertical blinds are not only stylish and elegant but also extremely functional. They offer privacy, shade and insulation. Vertical blinds will suit any home decor style you have, because of the wide range of materials and finishes available. Another benefit is that they can create the effect of bigger windows.
This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to window treatments. I’ll surely be writing many more posts for this series!
With so many different styles, colors and textures available, blinds make it easy to give your home beautiful windows.
What would be your choice?
