The air is crisp and the mornings and evenings are chilly. The air conditioning units are turned off and the windows are opened to let in the crisp fall air. No longer are we feeling the heat and humidity. It’s time to say au revoir to the summertime and embrace the seasonal change. In our home decor, it’s time to swap out the bright summery colors for the warm luxurious colors of fall. One room that needs extra tender loving care is our bedrooms, specifically our beds. Transitioning from a light summer look to a cozier fall/winter look requires some effort. We must add layers to the bed. We must swap summer sheets for winter ones and add a flannel blanket or a comforter. When it’s completed, though, the bed will provide such a soothing environment to sleep in!
The fall weather can be unpredictable–there are many days when there will be an Indian summer. To prepare for this, use a thin quilt or coverlet instead of a down comforter or flannel sheets. For added warmth, keep an extra blanket folded at the foot of the bed.
You can easily change the look of your bed by experimenting with different linens that have the colors of fall. By changing the pillows, bed skirts, and headboard, you can give your bed a fresh new look at any given time during the season.Let your bed have a warm, inviting look by adding layers with different colors, shapes and sizes, and textures. In this image, the various African prints come together to give this room an earthy look. There’s so much visual interest and texture! What a great idea it was to use the same domino fabric on the chair, blanket, and sham. Awesome designer touch!
Bed skirts are a wonderful way to add texture to the look of the bed.
Aren’t the touches of red on this bed just lovely? The interspersing of the red decorative shams with the white linens and pillows provides depth to the bed’s appearance. I love it!
Here, the placing of patterned shams behind white pillows also adds some depth to the look of the bed.
Match the color of your bed linens and shams with the colors of the room. This will tie in the bedding with your existing the room décor, giving the room a sense of continuity.
How luxurious is this amber-colored room? So rich and decadent!
Aren’t these rooms just gorgeous?! I hope they give you some ideas for giving your bed a makeover for the fall/winter season.
