Decor Inspiration: Finishing Touches to Make Your Home Welcoming

By Simone Design Blog @HomeSpire

When I consider purchasing an item to decorate my home, I try to imagine I’m a guest visiting for the first time and ask myself whether it helps my home exude warmth and welcome. Is the home colorful? Is it comfortable? Do I feel attracted to stay for a while? A great way to make a home attractive is with some nice finishing touches. Hands down a favorite is an arrangement of fresh flowers everywhere.

Arrange flowers in the same color family in pretty vases with various heights. I love how these white flowers are paired with white candles. So pretty. The cushions with French phrases are also an enticing finishing touch.

Small framed mirrors add a thoughtful touch to an entryway, allowing you to check your appearance as you come in. It’s also welcoming to have a chair waiting for you to sit in when you come home, especially when there are beautiful flowers next to it!

As bright and colorful as this room is, the green flowers and plant give it an organic, softer look. The tray with the books on the ottoman invites you in to sit and read. The candlesticks and pewter glass vases also make wonderful finishing touches in this room.

Decorative trays in your guest bedroom can contain your guest’s cosmetics (or jewelry) in a neat, orderly manner. Your overnight guests would definitely appreciate this thoughtful gesture!

Add a touch of glam using a mirror with a frame that complements the colors of your room. It’s a conversation starter, for everyone will want to know where you got it.

In this picture, the pink bath towels are painstakingly rolled with bath toiletries in this glass armoire and matching cart. What a very colorful and thoughtful idea for a bathroom! The decorative bottle of perfume on top of the armoire is also a great finishing touch.  Wouldn’t you just love to have a soak in a bathroom like this? It’s very soft and extremely feminine.

A well stocked bar is a very thoughtful gesture. It’s easy for guests to help themselves without having to keep bothering you for something to quench their thirst.

Instead of keeping your old magazines in a box somewhere, display advertisements from them in colorful decorative frames. This collection is very eye-catching, and you get to admire it on a daily basis. It doesn’t have to be magazine ads, it can be your family pictures, drawings, or whatever you like.
