The Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and the Attorney General (AG) informed the Supreme Court (SC) yesterday (08) that the decision taken by the Cabinet of Ministers to transfer the shares owned by the Government in Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) was completely correct and legal.
Accordingly, they informed the Court that the process related to the transfer of those shares will continue.
However, they gave a pledge before the Supreme Court not to sell or transfer those shares until June 15.
Deputy Solicitor General Rajeev Gunathilaka, who appeared on behalf of the Finance Ministry Secretary and the Attorney General, gave this pledge when a fundamental rights petition filed by several trade union leaders against the transfer of shares in Sri Lanka Telecom was called.
