Eat Vegetarian Day
- If everyone went vegetarian just for one day, the U.S. would save:
♦ 100 billion gallons of water, enough to supply all the homes in New England for almost 4 months;
♦ 1.5 billion pounds of crops otherwise fed to livestock, enough to feed the state of New Mexico for more than a year;
♦ 70 million gallons of gas — enough to fuel all the cars of Canada and Mexico combined with plenty to spare;
♦ 3 million acres of land, an area more than twice the size of Delaware;
♦ 33 tons of antibiotics.
National Chocolate Candy Day
- Did you know during the Second World War, the U.S. Government commissioned Milton Hershey to create a candy bar to be included in the soldier's rations? The candy bar chosen was the famous Hershey Milk Chocolate Bar. To celebrate National Chocolate Candy Day, enjoy some of your favorite types of chocolate candy. You can start your diet tomorrow, right?

National Call-a-Friend Day
- You know you have been meaning to call for weeks... don't put it off another minute – call your friend today. If you have been avoiding the call because you just don't know what to say – try Hello – it is Call a Friend day, and I thought of you.
National Pledge of Allegiance Day (1945)

Make Returns Day
– Nearly everyone has exchanges to make after all that holiday gift-giving. Offer to do this time-consuming task for your friend.
National Quilter's Day
- To continue the tradition of quilting through education and service. It can be a day to gather and work on an existing project, or to start a new project. What have you quilted lately?
No Interruptions Day
- Interruptions are a normal part of work life, especially if you are a smart and talented worker or manager. It is natural for your colleagues and staff to want to talk to you if you can help them with their work. That being said, interruptions can also be a tremendous drain and time waster. I would LOVE a No Interruptions Day!
Poor Richard's Almanack (1732)
- The Pennsylvania Gazette carried the first known advertisement for the first issue of Poor Richard's Almanack by Richard Saunders (Benjamin Franklin) for the year 1733. The advertisement promised many pleasant and witty verses, jests and sayings... new fashions, games for kisses... men and melons... breakfast in bed. Originally published: December 28, 1732

Holy Innocents Day/Childermas/Children's Mass/Feast of the Holy Innocents/Innocents' Day/Dia de los Santos Inocentes
- The Massacre of the Innocents is an episode of infanticide by Herod the Great appearing in the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 2:16-18). Matthew relates King Herod ordered the execution of all young male children in the village of Bethlehem, so as to avoid the loss of his throne to a newborn King of the Jews whose birth had been announced to him by the Magi.
