National Visit the Zoo Day-- Zoo exhibits have changed significantly over the years. Before the 20th century, animals were often kept in cages with bars which left them very little room to move around, let alone explore their surroundings. In today's zoos, enrichment activities — things the animals enjoy doing and demonstrate their species-specific behavior — are viewed as essential to animals' welfare as proper nutrition and veterinary care. - The first popular children's show was brought to TV by Bob Smith on December 27, 1947, and was one of the first regular NBC shows to be shown in color. It was set in the circus town of Doodyville. Children sat in the bleachers'

Louis Pasteur (1822)
- French chemist-bacteriologist born at Dole, Jura, France on December 27, 1822. Died at Villeneuve l’Etang, France, Sept 28, 1895. Discoverer of prophylactic inoculation against rabies. Pasteurization process named for him.
Make Cut Out Snowflakes Day
