Decatur Review | Eat & Drink

We've had a ton of delivery kits lately, so much so that we might have almost reached the top of the home kit - so it's refreshing when you hit that is really different from the rest. Take, for example, Decatur which serves incredible New Orleans seafood with their shrimp boils and grilled oysters. Some of you may already be familiar with Decatur in various street markets and a pop-up in Pamela, east London a few years ago. Pre-Covid they were set to transition to bricks and mortar with a Hackney site that has for obvious reasons now been put on hold.

The delivery of Decatur is well thought out - it includes all the food ingredients as well as nice wrappers, newspaper for the boil and it's super easy to remove too. Oysters are worthy of their hype - after opening them (if you don't have a special knife, use a screwdriver!) You just need to quickly roast them with hot pecorino-garlic butter, Cajun spices, parsley fresh, lemon and crystal Hot sauce accompanied by a white stick for dipping. We could have eaten several more. Then there's the massive shrimp boil, full of fresh shrimp, corn on the cob, sausage, garlic and spices - if you don't cough when that spicy "decatural seasoning" (a secret blend of 'herbs and spices) hits the back of your throat, you don't do it right. Then just tilt it on your table (cover it with the newspaper) and dig.

A truly unique and very well executed delivery offer - in or out of lockdown, Decatur delivers the goods.
