Greenleaf has taken a classic Mississippi Mass song “When I Rose” ft. Mama Mosie Burks, slowed it down and put Deborah Joy Winans on the lead.
The Greenleaf version takes on a contemporary feel, and can be heard on this season of the OWN TV hit church drama and on the season 4 soundtrack.
“It was so much fun remaking a classic gospel song with a modern twist,” Deborah Joy Winans said in a press release. “It really speaks to who I am and I hope that it makes people feel good.”
The original version can be heard on the Mississippi Mass 1996 album “I’ll See You In The Rapture.”
