Plot: A chronicle of the interaction between college student Jason Moss and the object of his obsession, serial killer John Wayne Gacy.
Verdict: How Far Would You Go?
Story: We follow a student take a risk by contacting serial killer John Wayne Gacy to get information on his mind. We see how over time the two become friends leading to long phone calls trying to get the student to do certain things he would never consider doing. We are left to see how far talking to the serial killer will push the young man’s mind.
Knowing this is based on true accounts between the two makes this have a much higher level of fear about it. One positive part of the film was not to look into the murders it only focuses on the interaction the two have. It is good to see how the mind-set of the young man changes with the conversation and he even starts to get to a dangerous level. It becomes intense as you don’t know how the student will go to get the story. (7/10)
Actor Review
William Forsythe: John Wayne Gacy serial killer sat on death row trying to get released because he believes he is innocent. He comes off very well spoken and a generally good man, but underneath all this is a very twist serial killer. Good performance from William showing he can play the serial killer well. (8/10)
Jesse Moss: Jason Moss student who befriends the serial killer to try and study his mind-set, but ends up getting losing his own mind without noticing it. Good performance from the young man. (8/10)
Support Cast: Be it family, friends or prison employees they all play a big part in everything, offering support to Jason while he starts to decide into his madness.
Director Review: Svetozar Ristovski – Good direction to create a story that will start to question how one man sees the world after talking to the serial killer. (7/10)
Drama: Seeing how Jason starts to change overtime makes for good drama as he distances himself with his own family too. (9/10)
Settings: The settings seem to show a creation of isolation and each scene shows most of the film being set in his bedroom alone or through the prison. (8/10)
Suggestion: This is only one to try, I think it will only appeal to a certain selection of people due to its use of a real serial killer, rather than being a made up story. (Try It)
Best Part: The lead performances are great.
Worst Part: Can come off a little bit slow.
Believability: Based on the real interactions. (9/10)
