Dear Justin, Please Bring Sexy Back

It’s been 6 years since Justin Timberlake released FutureSex/LoveSounds, and fans of the former *NSYNC-er are a little disgruntled. And it’s understandable. Even though JT has been busying himself with his clothing line, golf course opening, hosting golf tournaments, acting, producing, among other things, none of these upcoming projects are a followup to FutureSex.

I respect Justin’s desire to pursue other things; prior to his solo career, he had *NSYNC, and before that, he had the Mickey Mouse Club.  I’ve seen a couple of his recent films, and I thought he was pretty good in The Social Network. But I just can’t get excited over a new movie starring Justin Timberlake like I could over a new JT song. So today, when a news report broke that Justin would be returning to music, I was pretty excited, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up too high. It’s a good thing that I disconnected, because according to a spokesperson for Timberlake, his only venture into music at the moment will be with producer and constant collaborator Timbaland on his upcoming Shock Value 3. And that’s it. (If you listen closely, you can hear the sound of a million hearts breaking worldwide.)

Justin, it’s been six years. I know that the acting thing is your focus right now, but it’s been a good while since you last had a single. I think it’s time to bring sexy back in 2013.

Come on, Justin. Pop music needs you. We’ll be waiting.
