Dealing With Aerophobia – The Fear of Flying

So you've never been on an airplane in years. The last time you were, you probably thought you were going to die, just like the first time, the second time, and every other second you spent on that soaring aircraft. Obviously, you have a condition called aerophobia, a term that speaks for itself and therefore does not need the slightest explanation. What you would probably be most interested in is how to overcome this phobia, if it still interests you. If you're asking if people ever get past aerophobia, obviously they do. Their best news is that you have everything under control.

If you are seriously taking care of yourself, you need to reduce those documentaries about the aerial catastrophe on TV or YouTube that you may be ironically fond of. And you guessed it, the same goes for movies showing crashed planes. You must also avoid negative thoughts regardless of whether they are connected to flight as they may create negative vibrations that only aggravate your fears. If anything, watch TV shows or read stories of people who have actually overcome their aerophobia and don't take their advice for granted.

One thing you need to develop when trying to overcome fear of flight is trust, not necessarily in the crew or anyone directly connected to flight, but trust in life in general and the good things that can happen. The only thing you need to accomplish when dealing with aerophobia is that most of the time, this fear is more about the fear of losing someone or something than it is about flying. In your loneliest moments, try to explore your emotions and find that fear within you. So try to find the reasons behind it. Once you've got what you're looking for, you'll have a better chance of training to be more rational in flight.

Or again, you can simply get out of it and think you have 1 in 1.13 million chances of appearing in an airline catastrophe - and that's based on the worst airline statistics in the world. If you take a look at the statistics of the best airlines in the world, the possibilities are even more remote up to seven times. Having said that, only irrationality can make you fear of flying and that in itself should be enough to convince you that your fear is baseless, useless and simply illogical.
