Starring: Eric Bana, Olivia Wilde, Charlie Hunnam, Kris Kristofferson, Sissy Spacek, Kate Mara

Plot: Deadfall is A thriller that follows two siblings Addison (Bana) and Liza (Wilde) who decided to fend for themselves in the wake of a botched casino heist. Their unlikely reunion during another family’s Thanksgiving celebration, recently released Jay (Hunnam) spending Thanksgiving with his parents Chet (Kristofferson) and June (Spacek).

Verdict: Thanksgiving crime love story

Story: Deadfall Mixies three stories together to join into one is never easy and this tries to balance criminal siblings who want different things in life but loyalty keeps them together, a family that don’t talk after a mistake and a young detective trying to prove her worth to her father running the Police. The brother creates a killing spree while the sister builds a family back together. You will be thinking throughout the film. (8/10)

Actor Review: Eric Bana – Addison one half of the criminal siblings who turns into a psychopath who will kill anyone who gets in his way but will protect others in need. Very twisted role and performed very well. (8/10)

Actor Review: Olivia Wilde – Liza the younger sister who after they split up falls in love and starts trying to make her own decisions. Good performance showing how one person can change once they get to think for themselves. (8/10)

wilde

Actor Review: Charlie Hunnam – Jay former boxer who gets out of jail and returns to his family for Thanksgiving while meeting the girl of his dreams on the way. Good from Charlie showing he in turning into a lead actor to watch out for in Hollywood. (8/10)

Actor Review: Kris Kristofferson – Chet Father of Jay who will protect him wife but struggles to deal with the issue of the past with his son. Good supporting role but doesn’t get to do anything of any merit. (6/10)

parents

Actor Review: Sissy Spacek – June mother of Jay who tries to build a bridge between her husband and son. Good supporting role but again ends up being more basic role not using her talents. (6/10)

Actor Review: Kate Mara – Hannah young cop trying to make a name for herself by solving the crime but ends up getting blamed by her father more often. Good supporting role that doesn’t end up adding much to the main story. (6/10)

Director Review: Stefan Ruzowitzky – Good direction putting together all the stories. (8/10)

Crime: The investigation and search for criminal is ok but the cops are not the smartest again. (6/10)

Drama: Deadfall uses good drama showing more really life events if you took away the criminal aspect. (8/10)

Thriller: Deadfall uses good thriller levels throughout. (8/10)

Believability: Some of the family issue are real but the criminals’ action is not. (4/10)

Chances of Tears: No (0/10)

Settings: Deadall uses good snow based settings to create the desperate mind set of the criminals. (8/10)

Suggestion: I would suggest trying Deadfall as it fills in many different good ideas about family but adds thrills to pull in a more casual viewer. (Try It)

Best Part: The raid on a house leading to snow mobile chase.

Worst Part: The ending is a bit unanswered questioned.

Oscar Chances: No

Chances of Sequel: No

Overall: Strong Crime Drama Film
