Story: Dead Reckoning starts as orphaned teenager Tillie (Eisley) has been rebuilding her life with her Aunt Jenny (Cornell) in Nantucket. She has spent most of the summer drinking, where she meets Niko (Apa). The two-start dating looking at a potential summer romance.
This changes when Niko’s brother Marco (Adkins) arrives, and Agent Cantrell (Remar) has been tracking him down. The tension starts to rise as Marco reveals his motivation for arriving in Nantucket.
Verdict on Dead Reckoning
Dead Reckoning is an action thriller that uses the aftermath of a real terrorist attack to build a story about the suspect. This is what the movie is targeting, but with the story being told in such a way, we get an uninteresting journey.
The romance between Niko and Tillie might well be innocent to start with, but throwing it into this deeper idea is strange. The motivation doesn’t seem to make that much sense either and by the end, this feels flat on every level. The only thing that can be shown from this is that people can find themselves stuck in other people’s wars.
Final Thoughts –Dead Reckoning is a slow unconnected thriller.
