Near the end of World War II, de Havilland Canada began to develop an aircraft that would fit postwar civilian needs.  1947 saw the first flight of the new plane, the DHC-2 Beaver.  In production for twenty years with over 1,600 built, the Beaver also saw service with air forces around the world.  Beavers have been described as “arguably the best bush plane ever built”, with a large number sporting floats as this example does.  In 1987, the Canadian Engineering Centennial Board named the DHC-2 as one of the top ten Canadian engineering achievements of the 20th century.  Fuji X-Pro2 w/18-135mm.
