This Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) CT-142 Dash-8, affectionately known as “Gonzo,”on static display during the 2018 California International Airshow Salinas. This highly specialized airborne asset is used to train RCAF Air Combat Systems Officers (ACSOs) and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators (AESOps). 142803 is the oldest of the four Gonzos operated by the 402 “City of Winnipeg” Squadron. The Gonzo nickname comes from its elongated nose radome, which bears a resemblance to the long-snouted Muppet character of the same name. The CT-142 is based on the successful Dash-8 regional airliner which first flew in 1983.
