The Wings Over Camarillo airshow was the first time I had seen this this eye-catching Chipmunk.  First flown in 1946, this primary trainer was developed and manufactured by de Havilland Canada and also produced under license by de Havilland in the United Kingdom, as is the case with this example.  This Chipmunk is one of two which the RAF sent around the world to celebrate the type’s 50th anniversary, the other being displayed in the RAF Museum in London.  One of the highest-time Chipmunks still flying, it has logged 16,480 hours of flight and over 33,000 landings in military service.  Nikon D500 w/Tamron 150-600mm.
