On Friday afternoon my radio show co-host, Rafael and I spoke with David E. Talbert about his bomb new inspirational Netflix Christmas musical Jingle Jangle.
He wrote, produced and directed the film that had Black Twitter excited and full of hope for the first time in a long time.
Everything is Possible!
Jingle Jangle stars Forest Whitaker as inventor Jeronicus Jangles. Jeronicus had it going on, he had a loving and supportive wife and daughter who believed in him, and he was the baddest inventor in town.
Then the unthinkable happena. His apprentice stole his book of inventions, and Jeronicus once flourishing life dwindled to nothing. His business had dried up, his wife died and his daughter left. He was in his wilderness season. He lost hope in himself and his gift until his granddaughter Journey Jeronicus came to visit.
Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right!
This is what we couldn't wait to talk to David about. We wanted to know where he pulled the storyline from, especially the mail lady Ms. Johnston who believed in Jeronicus and encouraged him after he lost it all. During our conversation, Talbert, who grew up in the church compared Jeronicus story to that of Job's in the Bible. A story of having it all, losing it all and then witnessing God's restoration power.
