May 2014

This was my first trip to Spain and the Museo del Aire.  This facility has six exhibition galleries and over 150 aircraft on display.  The F1 (designated C.14 in Spain) served as Spain’s primary air defense interceptors until they were superseded by EF-18A Hornets.  Note the dummy canopy painted on the underside of the fuselage, these were intended to confuse opponents during air combat.  First acquired in 1975, the Spanish Air Force retired its fleet of Mirage F-1 in 2013.  Nikon D7000 with 18-200mm, processing by Photomatix Pro.
