Darkside ‘Paper Trails’

By Theneonhub @theneonhub

Darkside’s Paper Trails is one of those songs that comes along once in a while that, no matter where you are, no matter how big or small, sets you off dancing because your body can’t help it. It starts out sexy, like an eighties power suit or straight out of a Tarantino movie, but then it moves into a euphoric lift worthy of any dance floor (or grimy car park).

Darkside is a collaborative project from dance golden boy Nicolas Jaar and guitarist Dave Harrington, who became well known earlier this year for releasing a remix album of Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories under the pseudo Daftside. Psychic, from which Paper Trails is from, is the outfit’s first album, having only released a self-titled EP in 2011.

In an RA Session, Darkside performed Paper Trails live (which was out earlier this month on Matador and Jaar’s label Other People), where the plucking of the guitar and the grainy electronics were played out to maximum effect. The dark, smoky video compliments the duo’s jackpot collaboration perfectly, delivering a classy video to the classiest song of the winter.
