Dani & Matt are a sizzling hot couple, so hot and so in love I initially felt a bit like the third wheel checking out their engagement pics! These two could easily be on the set of a shoot for a fancy pants jeweller or fashion brand, yet their chemistry and love for each other is so obvious it is hard not to stare at every pic (a little too long) in admiration. I totally sound like a stalker, don’t I?
Congratulations to beautiful couple Dani & Matt who have very recently tied the knot at the stunning Mudbrick Vineyard on Waiheke Island, and a massive thank you to Jessica Photography for sharing these breathtaking images with us. Enjoy!
In three words describe each other…
Strong, passionate, loyal
Tell us the one quality you love most about your fiancé…
I love and admire Matt’s never-ending quest for knowledge. He always teaches me new things, shows me different views, and challenges me to think outside the box.
How did you meet?
We were introduced by a mutual friend about ten years ago but it wasn’t until Christmas 2011 that our lives were changed forever. We were both living in the US at the time, and our paths crossed from time to time but we were never in the same place long enough to make things work. Our relationship seemed to be one of hellos and goodbyes as we traveled to different countries and across states — each heading in opposite directions it seemed.
Over Christmas 2011, we both met up in California where I was living at the time, and from that day on we were nearly inseparable. We spent a few magical few weeks hand in hand, and as Matt’s departure back to NZ drew near, I knew I couldn’t say goodbye again. I decided then and there that we had to make it work. I had no idea how, but I knew we would find a way. Not even the biggest ocean in the world could keep us apart.
Two months later, my plane touched down in New Zealand as I came to visit him for the first 9me here. Four months later, I was packing my bags and moving to Wellington. And as they say, the rest is history…
Tell us about the proposal…
It was amazing, I still get goosebumps thinking about it! It was mid-December and one of our friends had invited us out on his yacht for the afternoon. I met up with Matt after work and we headed to the harbor in Wellington to meet up with our friends. As we set sail, I was sitting in the cabin along with friends and enjoying a spread of all my favorite cheeses, meats and olives (which, I would later learn, weren’t there by coincidence).
Another friend who was up on the deck, told us there was a rainbow over the bay and beckoned us to come look at it. As we stood on the deck enjoying the beautiful views, Matt asked me if I wanted to walk with him to the front of the boat. I happily obliged and as we were making our way to the front, Matt began telling me how much he loved he and how much I meant to him. It all became a bit of a blur at this point, and before I had time to process it, he had dropped to one knee and I was left speechless! At some point, I was told I eagerly nodded a “yes” as champagne bottles popped in the background. It was truly a magical day that could never be topped (except by our wedding of course!).
In three words describe your planned wedding style…
Simple but detailed and elegant
Where are you getting married?
Mudbrick Vineyard on Waiheke Island
What will be your splurge item for your wedding?
The venue — I want it to have that special ambiance that makes our guests feel the same magic that we’re feeling.
Where are you going for your honeymoon and why?
Somewhere in the Pacific Islands and the US — as yet to be decided. We’re waiting until the Northern Hemisphere summer to honeymoon so we can escape the Wellington winter for a few weeks and have something to look forward to a few months after the wedding.
