Dana Gavanski has shared new single ‘Good Instead of Bad’ ahead of the release of debut album ‘Yesterday Is Gone’ via Flemish Eye on 27 March.

Described by Dana as ‘more a mood than a story’, the heartrending song is tinged with sadness over the end of a relationship. It finds Dana examining how things are not always black or white (‘It’s a lot more subtle and nuanced and depends on each unique situation’) and the folk-tinged sound will appeal to fans of Laura Marling, early Bright Eyes and Big Thief.

Dana talks with openness about the way people and relationships change: ‘His eyes closed like windows’; ‘I could tell he wasn’t trying to be this way but he couldn’t see through all the feelings’. Dana then goes on to ask questions about what lies ahead while flowers go brown: ‘How can I be good to him? How can I be good instead of bad? How can I be true to him? How can I be true instead of sad? Or is this all I have?’; ‘Will we ever dance upon this floor like the night when I met him?’
