DaBaby ended up in hot water after being arrested on Thursday, January 7.
A spokesperson for the Beverly Hills Police Department told E! News that a security guard at the Gucci Rodeo Drive store called authorities around 5 p.m. after witnessing a group of men, one of whom was described as having a "handgun on his belt" , walking down the famous street.
The spokesperson further shares: "Police contacted the group after they entered a vehicle and prepared to leave the area. An investigation followed and a 9mm handgun was found in the area. the vehicle."
DaBaby, born Jonathan kirk, was subsequently taken into custody for suspected possession of a firearm. Authorities say he is currently registered with the Beverly Hills Police Department and has yet to be charged.
The rapper had already been arrested in January 2020 for alleged drums. At the time of the incident, E! News reported that the artist allegedly had an argument with a club promoter after receiving $ 20,000, instead of the promised $ 30,000.
