D-Day: 80th Anniversary is a documentary following the events leading up to Operation Overlord. It is famously one of the biggest seaborne invasions in history and changed the World War II outcome. Here, we see how different people achieved this moment and tricked the German military.
This documentary goes through the basics of what everybody knew about the battle. It has a good selection of archive footage showing the preparations and making the invasion possible. This is important to remember what happened on that beach.
However, this doesn’t bring anything new to the table. We have seen countless documentaries over the years, and this tells the same series of events. If you are a historian, you will watch this, but there are more in depth documentaries out there which can teach a lot more.
