The P-40 achieved immortality as the aircraft of the American Volunteer Group, the Flying Tigers, defending China from Japan during the early years of WWII.   This Warhawk was delivered to the Russians in 1941, crashed in 1942, discovered in 1984, recovered in 1990, and finally made airworthy in 2003.  This beautiful Texas-based example is seen taxiing after a performance at the 2017 Pikes Peak Regional Airshow.  Over 13,700 P-40s had been built by the time production ended in December 1944.
