A bright and sprightly Culver TD2C-1 makes a photo pass at the Grass Valley Airshow.  The Culver PQ-14 Cadet was a modified version of the Culver LFA Cadet used as a radio-controlled target drone for training anti-aircraft artillery gunners.  Originally built for the Army Air Corps, more than a thousand were transferred to the US Navy, which designated them the TD2C-1 Turkey.  The aircraft was flown unmanned during training missions, controlled by radio, but was flown by a pilot for ferry flights.  First flown in 1942, more than 2,000 of these target drones were produced, with a dozen or so survivors.  Nikon D500 w/150-600mm.
