Story: Cult Killer starts when private investigator Mikeal Tallini (Banderas) takes Cassie Holt (Eve) under his wing. He trains her to be a great as he is, until he is murdered by somebody he is searching for. Cassie is recruited by the local law enforcement to help investigate his murder.

However, the case is connected to a dangerous killer Jamie (Hennig) and she must team up with them. The two discover a much darker world, which has been operating in the area and now they can bring them down once and for all.

Verdict on Cult Killer

Cult Killer is a crime thriller following a protégé investigating her mentor’s murder. It takes her into a dangerous world, where she ends up working with a cold-hearted killer. But getting to the truth is even more disturbing than imagined.

This movie wants to take us down a dark path, however, the back story for Cassie and Jamie is far more disturbing than what they are facing. It also drags us down a path of a small town cult who do what they want, where a rookie private investigator is the best person to solve the crime. This ends up feeling messy, and never feels connected in any way.

Final Thoughts Cult Killer is a flat thriller, despite having dark themes.
