The Guinness Book of World Records has officially accepted CryptoPunks. For the first time, the NFT collection appears in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Deepak.eth, the CEO of Chain Protocol, owns CryptoPunk #5822, which is now listed in the Guinness Book of World Records’ “CryptoMania” section. This issue also includes Bitcoin, NFTs, and crypto adoption.
5822 enters the record books as the most expensive CryptoPunk sale ever. The punk was sold for 8,000 ETH (approximately $23 million) on February 12 of this year. Only 9 items in the collection, including the NFT, have the “Alien” trait. The next-highest amount sold was 4,200 ETH (approximately $7.6 million) on March 11, 2021.

Larva Labs created one of the most recognizable NFT collections of all time, CryptoPunks, and made it available as a free-to-claim experiment in 2017. CryptoPunks and the Bored Ape Yacht Club spearheaded the 2020 NFT bull run and contributed to the mainstreaming of digital treasures through high-profile auctions and celebrity onboarding. Yuga Labs founded the Bored Ape Yacht Club after purchasing the CryptoPunks intellectual property from Larva Labs in 2022.
The CryptoPunks floor price is currently 66.79 ETH and has been relatively stable over the last 24 hours, with 1117 ETH in transactions. During the same time period, one sharp wallet bought 5 NFTs from the CryptoPunks collection, while two sharp wallets sold 4 NFTs.
