On February 8, Studios Dragon and Crypto.com plan to release the first batch of special edition NFTs of Studio Dragon’s art toy DearRo based on the popular Korean dramas Crash Landing on You and Start-Up.
Studio Dragon, which is listed on the KOSDAQ and makes and distributes K-dramas for the Korean entertainment giant CJ ENM, said in a statement that it will show NFTs every three months that introduce new Korean dramas.
Crypto.com has been looking for business opportunities in the entertainment industry. In August, it teamed up with the Korean entertainment agency Fantagio to pursue NFT projects.
The major Korean music labels HYBE, SM, YG, JYP, and Cube have all said they want to get into NFTs and the metaverse. HYBE is in charge of the K-pop group BTS.
In November, the K-pop boy band SEVENTEEN from HYBE added a metaverse experience to a concert in Japan, which was part of their Asia tour. In October, the company also launched an NFT platform called MOMENTICA with a Korean blockchain company called Dunamu.
