Cross Manage 37

All that hard work, all those practices, and everything else that I possibly neglected to mention, gone. Well, maybe gone, but unless there’s answers to the contrary, Fujioka’s done.

Now, it’s not like I expected Fujioka to win with Misora anyways, but now with her getting hurt, it’s only about a matter of time. The question is though: why this decision to have her get hurt in probably the same way Sakurai got hurt while playing soccer? Did Kaito really intend to create a surprise with this twist? I can say it’s probably effective, since this can provide an ample amount of speculation as to what will happen in next week’s chapter (will this arc end without continuing the match and we find out later what happens? Exactly what will happen to Fujioka now when it comes to having fun? Among other things), and makes me wonder how the rest of Cross Manage will go. With a setup like this, it feels like it’s heading for an ending or will just turn out to be extreme regret and sadness, depending on the severity of Misora’s injury. Whatever the case, we’ll soon find out just how affected Sakurai’s gonna be, since this can only give him bad memories.

We will also see how it will affect Misora, who has never had an injury quite like this. Remember, the goal was to still retain having fun while playing lacrosse, but certain injuries tend to drain on you mentally, and instead of it merely being a physical ailment, it’s all up in the head. But of course, we don’t know how bad it is. Still, for a loose and kind of free spirited girl like Misora, this is going to be something new. I expect sadness if the injury is serious. And then I expect Choran to win, as I expected. But now you just wonder how Fujioka will be able to bounce back after this.

It’s somewhat of a shame it ended the way it did, since it finally highlighted a new character that we’re familiar with in Kato (you know, she wanted to quit before). She’s not all too important, but to find a way to contribute is enough, since Fujioka needs everything to actually win. And who knows, it might have continued this way, but unless Misora’s not all that hurt, that won’t be happening for a while.
